About the Desert Ranch community

S ituated just south of Carefree Arizona and within hiking distance of the McDowell Mountain & Brown’s Mountain preserve, Desert Ranch is a small upscale community of custom homes in North Scottsdale surrounded by the timeless beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Desert Ranch is comprised of lots ranging in size from one to two plus acres and is spread across rolling desert hills affording spectacular views and sunsets from just about everywhere in the community.

Established in 1976, Desert Ranch is one of the first communities in the area which has since been joined by the nearby golf communities of Legend Trail, Whisper Rock, and Mirabel. The Legend Trail Community derives its name from the legendary Stoneman Road which was an old military wagon supply route that made its way through the once wild terrain between Fort McDowell and Fort Whipple in Prescott. Throuhgout the years, Legend Trail’s golf course has received recognition for its superior design including Golf Magazine’s "Top 100 Courses You Can Play." Though commonly viewed as one subdivision, Legend Trail and Desert Ranch are two separate communities having distinct governing bodies that share in the common ranching heritage of what was once the Donohoe Ranch.

The governing body for Desert Ranch is the Desert Ranch HOA which is comprised of an elected Board of Directors and an Environmental Design Committee (EDC).
